About The Church
AWC is a busy and growing church in Avon, New York, about 20 miles south of Rochester. The mission of AWC is to make disciples and bring the hope of Jesus to all of our communities. Over the last several months, we have begun exploring what it means to reach people for Jesus in a society that is increasingly de-churched and unchurched. We emphasize the importance of living on mission and showing the love of Jesus to our friends, families, neighbors, co-workers, and communities at large. In a time of great division and polarization, we are committed to clearly proclaiming Jesus, making disciples, and bringing the hope of Jesus to everyone we know.
We are in the midst of some exciting developments in the life of our church, including the development of a strategic plan, researching how to expand on our existing properties (totaling 30 acres), and engaging in exciting community outreach events. Our signature ministry event is the Live Nativity Hayride, which explores the life of Christ in an engaging and exciting way; this past year, we were able to minister to 1,700 people from across New York and other states. Other ministries and events are taking shape as we embrace a missional posture and seek to create as many “front doors” as possible for people to experience the love of Jesus in new and fresh ways.
