Sign inBuena Vista Wesleyan Church is seeking a Youth/Assistant Pastor who loves Jesus and has a passion for reaching, leading, and discipling teenagers into a relationship with Jesus Christ, as well as being able to engage and minister to the entire Body of Christ. Our current Youth Ministry is around ~40 teens and is set in a distinct rural community. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is able to lead the youth ministry but is gifted and willing to serve in other areas such as worship, technology, and the many other facets of pastoral ministry.
Responsibilities:
· Love People. Develop real authentic relationships.
· Make and mature disciples by leading teenagers to Jesus.
· Lead Sunday Evening Rooted Youth Group.
· Lead Wednesday Evening Youth Group (which runs from Sept. – April)
· Plan various “extra youth events” and participate in Wesleyan and District Youth events.
· Assist the pastoral staff in various pastoral ministries, such as visitations, preaching as needed, etc.
· Routinely participate in the Sunday morning worship services as needed.
· Be able to work along with fellow staff members at BVWC and report to the Lead Pastor.
· Create and maintain a strong healthy youth volunteer group.
· Play a leadership role in implementing technology to enhance the ministries of BVWC.
· Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with staff, parents, volunteers, and students.
· Maintain and update regularly all BVWC Youth social media.
· Explore ways to connect with our community, including maintaining our relationships with the local schools.
· Attend weekly staff meetings.
· Develop an on-going Vision for the Youth and Young Adult Ministry of BVWC
Qualifications:
We are looking for a licensed or ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church or someone who is able to become licensed/ordained in the near future.
Needs to have past experience leading Youth Groups, pastoral ministry, and working as part of a team.
Have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and love students.
Looking for someone who is able to build a team of lay people for Youth Ministry, with a vision for growing a healthy Youth Ministry.
Be a spiritual leader to the youth of the church, by setting an example of what it means to follow Jesus in our prayer life, studying of the Word, spending time with God, in the spiritual disciplines, and personal integrity.
Must be able to share the gospel in practical and relevant ways that engage teenagers’ hearts.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Be proactive, self-motivated, and coachable.
Must be willing to work hard in a team environment.
