Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries Part Time

Avon Wesleyan Church (AWC) is excited to be hiring a part-time director of youth and young adult
ministries. This position will lead the youth ministry at Avon Wesleyan Church structured around
discipleship, outreach, community, and service, while also developing a ministry for young adults. The
position would also provide assistance to the pastoral staff and ministry to the church through care,
discipleship, and teaching ministries. Our hope is that the ministries under this new leadership will
flourish, which will allow the director to become a full-time position.

Requirements
● Evident spiritual maturity and growth in personal life.
● Passion for and recognizable calling to work with students.
● Ability to recruit, equip, and lead adult and student volunteers in a team ministry.
● Positive attitude toward AWC and a commitment to our mission & vision.
● Willingness to work with the pastoral staff team.
● Member of the Wesleyan Church, or willing to become a member of the Wesleyan Church.
● Experience or training within youth or young adult ministry.

Specific Responsibilities
● Continue and further develop a thriving youth and young adult ministry at Avon Wesleyan Church.
● Develop and coordinate weekly programs for youth alongside adult leaders.
● Weekly youth program and Sunday School.
● Develop, promote, and conduct special youth and young adult events throughout the year.
● Intentionally connect with students outside of the church through meetings, mentoring, and
visiting their sporting events, plays, etc.
● Maintain an open line of communication with parents of youth via in-person conversations,
meetings, email/social media, newsletters, and announcements.
● Recruit and lead adult volunteers to serve in weekly ministry and events.
● Encourage and lead students to use their gifts in ministry both inside & outside the church.
● Work actively to build the youth group by reaching students in our communities.
● Work with the leadership to schedule and communicate all youth and young adult events.
● Oversee the youth and young adult ministries’ budget.

Other Responsibilities
● Assist the pastoral staff in the total ministry of the church, as requested.
● Pray for the church as a whole.
● Cooperate with other ministry leaders and staff in scheduling & planning events.
● Give regular reports to leadership as well as at the annual local church conference.
● Actively engage in the life of AWC.
● Positively represent AWC in our communities.
